What you'll need in order to apply:

  • Review the full set of Laws and Regulations regarding the practice of Behavior Analysis in the state of Virginia
  • Carefully read through the Application Instructions for detailed information.
  • Verification of Credentials - Contact the Behavior Analyst Certification Board via email at verifications@bacb.com
  • NPDB Self Query - Complete the online "Place a Self-Query" form
  • Verification of licenses to practice as an Assistant Behavior Analyst from all jurisdictions within the United States, its territories and possessions or Canada.

Reinstate a Lapsed License  

You have indicated that you are interested in Reinstatement of your Behavior Analyst license.

Reinstatement occurs after the license has been expired for 2 years.  Do not complete this application if your license has been expired for less than 2 years or if you are trying to reactivate a license in inactive status. 

This Reinstatement application is a Word document that will need to be printed, filled out and sent to:

What you'll need to apply:

  • Review the Laws and Regulations governing the practice of Behavior Analysis
  • Carefully read through the Reinstatement application instructions
  • NPDB Self-Query: Complete the online Place a Self-Query Order form and verify your identity.
  • Verification of licenses to practice as an Assistant Behavior Analyst from all jurisdictions within the United States, its territories and possessions or Canada.
  • Evidence of competency to return to active practice (see application instructions for details).
  • Copies of documentation supporting any name change since your initial licensure in Virginia
  • If you answer yes to any question on the application from number 6 through number 18, provide doccmentation from your attorney (or you can provide a narriative explaining your answer). You will need court documentation for any convictions.
  • Completed Reinstatement application and check or money order made payable to the "Treasurer of Virginia" for the reinstatement fee amount indicated on the application. Fees are non-refundable.

Return an Inactive License to Active Status  

If your license is expired, please to go to the license reinstatement option.

What you’ll need in order to apply:

  • Information on continued practice in another jurisdiction as a licensed behavior analyst or a  or with certification as a BCBA® during the period in which the license has been inactive or lapsed. (You may have the employer complete and send in a Form B).

    OR
  • Twelve hours of continuing education for each year in which the license has been inactive or lapsed, not to exceed three years (You will need to provide copies of certificates of completion)

    OR
  • Recertification by passage of the BCBA® certification examination from the BACB.

  • Please fill out the application form and send to the Board, along with the applicable fee.
