Special Announcement - Deadline for Registration of Medication Aides:
Budget Bill, Item 303 #1c passed on Monday, March 17th. This amendment states:
"That, notwithstanding the provisions of the fourth enactment clause of Chapters 924 and 610 of the 2005 Acts of Assembly, the provisions of § 54.1-3041, Code of Virginia, that require medication aides to be registered by the Board of Nursing shall not be enforced until December 31, 2008."
Explanation:
This amendment delays the enforcement of regulations related to the registration of medication aides working in assisted living facilities until December 31, 2008 to allow assisted living facilities enough time to ensure medication aides are registered as required by law.

Fee Increase: Effective 1-25-2006, C.N.A. fees for renewal and reinstatement increased to $50. If renewal and reinstatement applications with the prior fee ($45) were not RECEIVED in the Board of Nursing office by 1-31-2006, an additional $5 fee is required to process these applications.
