Effective January 1, 2020, the Virginia Board of Physical Therapy implemented fingerprint-based criminal background checks (CBCs) under Virginia Code Section 54.1-3484 through the Board contractor Fieldprint. This requirement applies to all new or pending applicants. Please review the Board’s Frequently Asked Questions pertaining to this requirement.
To apply for a PT Compact privilege, please visit the website for the Physical Therapy Licensure Compact at www.ptcompact.org.
Please be aware that payments made in person to the Board office will not be processed until the next business day, with the exception of renewal payments received on the last day of the month.
If you have been licensed for less than one year in another U.S. jurisdiction, you will need to apply for licensure by examination.
