What do I need to do before taking the national examination?

A completed Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) licensure application is required before an applicant is approved to take the national exam through the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB).

Is there a state exam required for licensure?

There is no state exam requirement.

How many times can I take the NHA exam?

NAB does not restrict candidates on the number of times they can take the Core of Knowledge Exam for Long Term Care Administrators (CORE), Nursing Home Administrator (NHA), or Resident Care/Assisted Living (RCAL) examinations in a calendar year.

What information is included in the NAB exams?

The NAB Exam Candidate Handbook is an important resource for candidates preparing to take the exam(s). The Handbook includes an overview of the registration and testing process, the structure of the exams, and links to resources and information.

An NAB Study Guide is also available for those preparing for their exam(s).

How much time do I have to take the exam(s)?

Examinations must be scheduled and completed within sixty (60) days from receiving the NAB's Authorization to Test email.
