Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider Applicants

The Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider (CSOTP) is a behavioral health professional who, by education and experience, is qualified at the autonomous practice level to provide therapeutic intervention and services to sex offenders. Supervised post-graduate degree experience is a prerequisite for certification.

It is strongly recommended that you review the Regulations Governing the Certification of Sex Offender Treatment Providers and the Sex Offender Treatment Provider Certification Process Handbook before submitting an application.

I do NOT have at least five years of documented work experience in sex offender treatment in another jurisdiction. I have a minimum of a master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or nursing, or a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine.  I do NOT have 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of clinical assessment/treatment services with sex offender clients. *See note below.    I want to earn supervised experience in the delivery of clinical assessment/treatment services with sex offender clients. 

Initial Registration for Sex Offender Treatment Provider Trainee

I do NOT have at least five years of documented work experience in sex offender treatment in another jurisdiction. I have a minimum of a master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or nursing, or a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine.  I have earned 2,000 hours of supervised experience as a Board approved Sex Offender Treatment Provider Trainee.  *See note below.  I want to provide Sex offender Treatment Provider Services in Virginia.  Application for Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider
