Occupational Therapist and Occupational Therapy Assistant - Compact

Virginia OT and OTA license holders may use their Virginia license to obtain a compact privilege to practice in another OT compact state. To participate, you must first meet the following requirements:

  1. Hold a Virginia license and have no disciplinary action or restrictions on your license to practice
  2. Be a resident of Virginia and have a Virginia address listed in your public address of record on file with the Board as your home address
  3. Obtain a fingerprint-based criminal history record check from Virginia State Police (VSP) for review by the Board. Instructions for completion of a Criminal History Background search through the VSP can be found here
  4. Submit an OT Compact Attestation that you have no current Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) criminal background history and agree to complete an FBI criminal background check (FBI-CBC) within sixty (60) days of notification of Virginia’s ability to perform FBI CBCs.
