What to do if you haven't received your license in the mail:
You may contact the board either via bodlicensing@dhp.virginia.gov or 804-367-4583 to find out when the Board mailed your license.
If you are renewing your license, you will NOT receive another license in the mail. Beginning in 2023 the Board of Dentistry ceased mailing hard-copy licenses, certifications, permits, and registrations on a yearly basis for our regulated professions. A final hard copy was issued in 2022. Please view additional information here.
If you are an initial licensee or requested a duplicate license, please know that all licenses are mailed via USPS. However, the Board is aware that there are delays within the mailing system of USPS (sometimes up to 8 weeks), which the Board has no control over. The Board will NOT mail you another duplicate license, unless your license has been returned to the Board via USPS as undeliverable.
Please ensure the Board has your accurate mailing address
If you are needing your license immediately then you have the following options:
Mailing a pre-paid UPS/Fed-EX envelope to the Board (this way you would have a tracking number) and the Board will mail your license in this envelope.
Obtain your license at the main office (in person)
